The word ‘SARAS’ is derived from the term used for the celestial swan in Hindu mythological representation. Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom in all forms of study, is often depicted riding a swan or sitting near a swan. In Hindu mythology, the swan is considered a symbol of wisdom, discernment, and purity. The swan’s ability to separate milk from water is seen as a metaphor for the Goddess’s ability to discern truth from illusion and impart wisdom to her devotees. Interestingly, in some legends, it is said that the swan can even drink only the purest of waters, symbolising Goddess Saraswati’s role in guiding people toward spiritual clarity and enlightenment!
Swans also communicate with a variety of vocalizations and body language, and they can adapt to different environments, showing both social and survival intelligence.
